The tech gods have not been on my side lately. First, my DSL was out for nine days! I was able to use dial-up on my G5. I got an airport card for it because I live in the city and there are many open networks.
Four days after my DSL was fixed, somehow the second monitor malfunction and fried the video card of the G5. I was amazed that I was able to get it fixed — for from — because I had purchased Applecare. Not only that — they came to my house to do the repair!
The second monitor is still at the manufacturer, but, except for that, I am back in the saddle.

Is this what we might call “digital dependence?” And, if it is, what does that mean?
I’m feeling it here in Europe, traveling from place to place and not having reliable or accessible wifi many places. It’s amazing how much we take for granted once we’re all connected up and everything works right. However, I think this transition will take 5 years and then much of the world will be part of the lilly pad matrix.
