I have been impressed at how often Wired News and Wired Magazine cite examples of mainstream technology aiding people with disabilities. Today’s article on the prevalence of SMS use in the Deaf community is no exception.
This is not a new thing for Wired. Their coverage of Autism in the Silicon Valley and others really really the issues in the “right” way. My favorite is John Hockenberry’s cover story.

I agree, WIRED gets it deeply and, by the way, so does Zeldman and the entire CSS/web standards movement. Don’t forget that group, who are mainstream designers doing things right for everyone in a way that includes, but does not single out, people with a variety of more specialized access needs.

Right, Richard. http://www.alistapart.com/ and http://webstandards.org/ are great resources on that.
