New client

I have not done as much here in the last few weeks because I have been working on a PAID gig. I still have to get and integrate the final look and feel from the designer, but PassingNotes.com is coming along.
What is really interesting in that the owner started out thinking he needed [...]

Cool exposure

Yesterday, I decided to join the wp-hackers mailing list because I really want to understand the application at a deep level (maybe write plugins, modifications, etc). In introducing myself to this list, I cited Confusing Words that Richard and Anne Wanderman, Monika Koethnig , and I have been working on for a couple [...]

The beauty of simplicity

I have been a huge fan of Craigslist for well over a year. It is a “no frills” website (no graphics, hardly designed, etc), but is used by many people.
I have found dates, jobs and people to work for me as PCAs (personal care attendants). The difference in the quality of candidates I have found [...]

Google Zeitgeist

I found Google Zeitgeist and it has real interesting information for the techie and nontechie alike. The data on browser usage (though depressing), is the most unbiased I can think of.
Digging a little deeper., one can get a historical snapshot in time to see what was popular in any given week.

On a whim, I just Googled and downloaded an application called IveZeen. Within 10 minutes, I made this. If you have never met me, or only “know” me in written form, seeing this may be eye-opening.

Balance — Easier said than done

My constant battle is to maintain balance while at the same time moving forward. It is part of the breadth vs depth struggle, and I usually end up doing neither well.
Take this site for examrple: I want to write more content, because I have lots of thoughts and perspectives that others would find useful. But,iI [...]

Best laid plans

I am avid avid Morning Edition listener, and I am one of the hordes that was none too happy with the dismissal of Bob Edwards.
Well, only three weeks into the east coast/west coast co-hosting of Steve Inskeep and Renee Montagne, and I don’t think I have heard Renee all week.
This looks like validation of [...]

This is not a blog — it just plays like one

Despite it’s appearance, I do not intend for this to be a blog. Blogs, to me, have a homey, self-absorbed egomaniacal feel to them, and I think the audiences comes from the voyeuristic quality that is innate to all human beings. Yes, I am guilty of it too.
I would rather think of this as a [...]

Getting your point across: A unique approach?

This happened to me several years ago, but I still like to use it as an example of how to deal with attitudes that are all too common in this world.
(For those of you that don’t know me, I use a wheelchair and have a speech impediment. Strangers often have trouble understanding me, and [...]
