Four more years — can we last?

I am not usually the alarmist type, but I am extremely worried for our nation. The voter turnout was higher than ever — something that everyone wanted — but unfortunately the increase was all in small town folk.

Though it is appealing (on the surface) to live in a world where the difference between right and wrong is crystal clear, but very few things are. Dogmatism is a horrible trait, and indicates an inability to think for oneself.

What is voted for is not democracy at all. Oppressing contrary viewpoints for the sake of clarity is an act of stupidity.

God, please bless America — we need it now more than ever.

The Berlin Wall

I have been thinking a lot about the fall of the Berlin Wall (representing the end of the East/West geopolitical divide), and how it changed our collective world outlook as Americans.

Why, you ask?

Those of us in “Red Sox Nation” have just experienced a similar event. Winning the World Series for the first time in 86 years is bound to change things. Much like Eastern Europeans, we are no longer on the other side of the wall that separates the haves from the have nots.

Will we as a “nation” be happy in our new position? Will the absence of a common burden effect our identity?

Interesting times are ahead.
